Electricity tariffs next year ' Dicicil ' Climb Every 3 months, this is the reason the Government

Jakarta -the Government proposes to the PARLIAMENT on next year's increase in Electricity Tariffs (TTL) per quarter or ' dicicil ' every 3 months. What is the reason?

According to Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo, an increase in electricity rates is done to reduce subsidies on electricity which is not right on target. Saving funds will be allocated to infrastructure through the capital expenditure of the Government.

"With the rise in TTL, can reduce electricity subsidies. Increased capital expenditures will be widely used for the development of the infrastructure that supports the growth of investment in the country.

"So indirectly by increasing capital expenditure budget, then it can be pushed higher economic growth again," he asserts.

Increase in electricity tariffs next year is planned around 10%. But the Government will not raise at once, but gradually would raise every 3 months.

The rich can still be Electricity Subsidy of Rp 400/Kwh

Jakarta -the Government propose to PARLIAMENT next year to raise Electricity Tariffs (TTL) about 10% with dicicil every 3 months. This is done, because rich people are still enjoying electricity subsidies to Rp 350-400 per kWh.

So delivered by coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa in his residence, Widya Chandra Complex, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, Monday (19/8/2012).

"Today, with the current power rates, countries still subsidize everyone including the rich Rp 400 per kwh. Meaning of the selling price of electricity to generate electricity, investment still difference of Rp 400 per kWh, "Hatta said.

Hatta said, with rising electricity rates is also to improve the management of electricity prices. Electricity rates rise, then the electric subsidy will be reduced in the BUDGET, it also improves the ability of PLN and private power plants to produce electricity.

"The reason, with the difference in the price of electricity at present, far too much of the value of the investments issued by electricity rates now," he said.

"I do not dare to say," said Minister Coordinating the economy Hatta Rajasa, when asked if next year's subsidies raised fuel prices next year.

Agus Marto: Electricity Rates Up Does Not Mean No Matter The Poor
